How the foundation is born?

Apparel International, INC (www.apparel is an international supplier in the denim market. It has facilities in Nazareno, El Pilar, Cuencame and Torreon, employing over 4,000 people.

The first manufacturing plant opened in Nazareno in 1988, followed by Torreon in 1995, Cuencame in 1998 and El Pilar in 2000. Years later we look for the possibility of extending the support we could give to the community to improve the life style and quality life of people through sustainable projects. This is how the Apparel International Foundation was created within the area of community engagement, seeking to be agents of change in the world through the implementation and development of these projects that can be measurable and replicable over time.

Apparel International Foundation works in partnership with the Workers Program Well Being (which is part of the area of sustainability of our main client, LEVIS STRAUSS & CO.) Directing his philosophy in the areas of health, education and finance.

Why Nazareno was chosen as the first town to develop?

Our manufacturing plant there in Nazareno since 1988 and over the years has employed more than 15,000 inhabitants of the town and neighboring communities. Of all the plants, Nazareno has the necessary conditions for the positive impact that is sought be reached in the shortest possible time:

• Apparel International is the only manufacturing plant in the villa.

• The villagers conglomerate in the same area unlike the dispersion that exists in cities or larger communities, which helps the change made to impact a large number of people and to spread more quickly and easily.

• After conducting a needs assessment in the community we realized that projects in the area of health, education and finance are most urgent, and these are the areas covered by the Workers Well Being program.
